Idaho Man Sentenced for Deliberate Attempt to Spread HIV to Men and Teenage Boys

Prosecutors said that an Idaho man intentionally attempted to transmit HIV by engaging in unprotected intercourse with several men and underage boys, and he was sentenced to jail on Friday.

Prosecutors announced in a news statement that Boise resident Alexander Louie, 34, was sentenced to 30 years in prison on May 3rd for a number of felonies, including the transmission of bodily fluids harboring the HIV virus.

Six additional felony charges against Louie were dropped in return for his guilty pleas to counts of sexual abuse of a juvenile, luring a kid online, and transmitting bodily fluids carrying HIV, all of which are felonies, according to the Idaho Statesman. The publication also said that Louie is still facing two counts related to HIV transmission.

Initially, when Louie started an online sexual communication with an undercover Ada County Sheriff's investigator assuming the identity of a 15-year-old lad, authorities accused him of enticing children. After the two made plans to have sex, Louie was taken into custody.

Louie did not take his medicine, despite being HIV positive. Investigators claim that in an attempt to spread the infection to his sexual partners, he misled them about his HIV status. Prosecutors claimed Louie admitted to them that he had intercourse with between thirty and fifty different men and youngsters, one of them being sixteen.

Afterwards, Louie was the target of several accusations from the prosecution.

Ada County District Judge Derrick O'Neill told Louie at his sentence hearing, "Your conduct would be the Webster's definition of a predator." After serving 16 years, Louie will not be eligible for parole.
